01 / Admissions

Starting the conversation

General questions that apply to most families before programme placement is confirmed.

Is U-Can a recognized international school?+
U-Can delivers a Canadian secondary school pathway through its Canadian educational partnership. The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) is the official secondary school qualification granted by the Ontario Ministry of Education in Canada and is recognized by universities and colleges in Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia, and around the world.
How do I apply to UCAN?+
Start by sharing your child’s age, current class, and programme interest. Admissions can then guide your family through consultation, readiness review, documents, fees, and next steps.
How do I know which programme is right for my child?+
UCAN reviews the learner’s current class, age, academic readiness, and future study direction before recommending Primary School, Secondary School, or the Canadian Diploma Pathway.
Does my child need an assessment before admission?+
The school may review readiness before admission so parents receive clear guidance on the most suitable entry point and any support the learner may need.
What documents are required?+
Admissions will confirm the final document list. Parents should expect to share academic records, identification details, and any information that helps the school understand the learner’s current level.
02 / Primary School

What age or class level is Primary School suitable for?+

How does Primary School prepare learners for Secondary School?+
Primary learners build the habits, confidence, and academic foundations needed to move into a more structured secondary pathway.
03 / Secondary School

Academic direction

For learners building subject confidence before the Canadian Diploma route.

Which grades are covered in Secondary School?+

How does Secondary School prepare learners for the Canadian Diploma pathway?+
The programme focuses on academic structure, subject planning, parent-facing clarity, and preparation for Canadian Diploma expectations.
What academic guidance is provided for subject planning?+
Learners receive guidance around subject choices and progression so families understand the next academic step clearly.
Can learners join UCAN from another curriculum?+
Admissions should review the learner’s previous school history and readiness before advising the best entry point.
04 / Direct Pathway

IGCSE or O-Levels to OSSD

For families comparing Direct Entry and the Bridging Pathway.

Who is eligible for the Direct Entry Pathway?+
The Direct Entry route is presented for IGCSE graduates moving into the Grade 12 OSSD Diploma Pathway.
Who is eligible for the Bridging Pathway?+
The Bridging Pathway is presented for O-Level graduates who need a bridging programme before joining the same Grade 12 OSSD route.
What is the difference between Direct Entry and the Bridging Pathway?+
IGCSE graduates follow a direct Grade 12 OSSD route. O-Level graduates first complete a bridging stage before joining the identical Grade 12 OSSD pathway.
What is the pathway after graduation?+
Students graduate with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), which opens pathways to university, college, and future study opportunities in Canada and around the world.
How long does the Direct OSSD Pathway programme take?+
The current notes state that IGCSE graduates follow a 10-month Grade 12 OSSD Pathway. O-Level graduates follow a 12-13 month route covering the Bridging Programme plus the same Grade 12 OSSD pathway.
